A note about this tutorial, I wrote it in character for a roleplay community as a joke, and I may have missed some words here and there calling people morons- D: I do not think anyone is one.

Just a note about this tutorial, I think half of it is translatable and the other half isn't. If you have channels

- KENPACHI IS THE CRAZY ASS BAMF THT IS ON THE TOP PANEL
- BYAKUYA IS THE ASSHOLE BAMF ON THE BOTTOM

How to go from this to this or this - Translatable.

there are two extra ones inside for photoshop only.

i've uploaded all the psds for this tutorial for every single version. 8) don't hesitate if you need to ask me a question! I just ask that if you do use that header for anything (if you want it, please let me know and i'll save it for you or you can open up the psd and save it) that you credit: [livejournal.com profile] robodicks

Notes: Basically, it's exactly like my first manga tutorial, but it has the added effect of line colors and it is the basics to get to icons like this one rather than leaving the line color blank.

This one is for a matte finish without the added exclusion and brightness. Personally, i like this style more. ;)

Difficulty: medium
Done in: Photoshop CS3
Translatable: Kinda?

tutorial under here )

You can apply these techniques to get whatever effect you want on different manga. All it really comes down to is how you use:

a) colors in the first place. how you do your line art: colored or classic black and white. Sometimes I just prefer black and white line art because the manga scan isn't as clear as it is here. Its a whole hell of a lot easier than going in and using a tiny brush to go over line by line.

b) how you use curves/selective coloring/color balance etc. With these tools, you can make it brighter or more matte, emphasize colors while downplaying others etc.

c) textures: will you texturize with grays/yellows/sparkles/light etc.

As always: I include the PSD

HAVE FUN, show me what you have done!
